Database Connector without the Web App

#1

Hi, I’m unable to figure out if the Database Connector can be used without the plotly2.0 web app. I would like to host my own plots, but need to connect them to an ElasticSearch database. I can only find instructions for using the Database Connector with the web app. I want to stick with the open source tools, and since both the JavaScript plotting library and the Database Connector are open source it seems this should be possible, but it is not at all clear to me how it can be done. Any help steering me in the right direction would be much appreciated!

Hi @ayates, you can connect to SQL databases, run queries, visualize the results, and export plots entirely without plotly’s web app. The ElasticSearch interface however is limited without piggy backing on the web app. We’d like to move the web app’s ES query interface to the standalone desktop client at some point, but it’s a low priority right now.
